Florida - Day 14 - Disney's Hollywood Studios
We spent our last day in Florida at Disney's Hollywood Studios. We went on the following rides and shows:
Rock 'n' Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith
Beauty and the Beast - Live on Stage
Lights, Motors, Action! Stunt Show
Muppet Vision 3-D
Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular!
Toy Story Mania!
Studio Backlot Tour
The stuntmen who drove the cars for the Lights, Motors, Action! Stunt Show were awesome. Some of the cars came very close to each other and yet, they didn't crash into each other. The show even revealed some of the secrets for stunt shows, including showing the audience the inside of a stunt car. The stunt car is mostly a car shell and chassis, with motors that give the stunt driver tons of control to make the tight turns and fast brakes.
Toy Story Mania! just opened in June of this year. The lines for it were very long and the Fast Pass tickets ran out quick. In the morning, A and I were able to get Fast Pass tickets for a ride in the afternoon. By the time we returned to get on the ride again later that day, the Fast Pass tickets had run out and the non-FastPass-ticket-line had grown to several hours long.
The Toy Story Mania!'s theme is a carnival (Midway Games). Riders sit two-by-two. In front of each rider is an air-propelled canon that shoots balls or rings that knocks down ducks and pins in a shooting gallery. The balls or rings are computer-generated graphics that show up in the screen in front of the rider. The riders also wear 3-D glasses that make the shooting gallery and midway games look very real. Toy Story Mania! is definitely worth riding again and again.
For lunch, A booked us a seat at the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater. We sat in cars as booths. We ordered and ate our food in our cars while watching old black-and-white movies on the movie screen. I would recommend going here for the atmosphere.
We got to snap a picture with EVE and WALL-E from the Disney/Pixar movie WALL-E. The display cases next to EVE and WALL-E featured the artwork of the amazing animation team. I am glad that Pixar and Disney "merged" and that Pixar's top executives are turning Disney's lackluster animation team around. (It also helped that I owned Pixar stock before Disney purchased Pixar, which caused a jump in stock price.) I'm looking forward to more good movies from this team!
