Florida - Days 4 and 5
We left New York on the morning of Day 4. It was a short plane flight to Miami, Florida. We planned to spend several days with sis-in-law Jean, her husband Charles, and the kiddies David (4 yrs old) and Trinity (2 yrs old).
The kiddies were definitely excited to see us. Jean told us that whenever they saw an airplane, they shouted that Uncle Andy was coming. =)
I love the way that the kiddies said my name. I became Auntie "S-er." How cute!
That evening, I had my first Cuban food, at "Little Havana." I ordered a pork dish and A ordered flank steak. Both were delicious.

The next day, we went to Butterfly World in Fort Lauderdale. The open-air aviaries with butterflies were awesome. Butterflies were everywhere. The butterflies fluttered all around us, occasionally landing on flowers to collect nectar. There must have been hundreds in that aviary.

Later that afternoon, we tried to go to the Venetian Pools. It's complete with pirate ships and slides for the kids. Rain was expected that afternoon, but we hoped that it wouldn't bring thunder or lightning. Once we got there though, the alarm at the pool sounded. It's the first time I've heard an alarm warning the approach of thunderstorms and lightning. No one was allowed in the pool until the storm was over.
We decided to leave and go grocery shopping instead. Andy found Whole Foods an exciting trip in itself. I have a darling husband who loves to cook. =)

Butterfly World also had aviaries for different kinds of birds. I found the section for feeding birds fun. Customers pay to hold cups of nectar in their hands. Birds landed on my arms to eat from the cup. Their claws didn't scratch or hurt at all. It felt as if a person was grasping my arm lightly.
