Florida - Days 6 and 7

On the night of Day 6, Jean and Charles took us to South Beach for dinner. We ate at Barton G. It was nice to get dressed up and go out for fine dining. (The kids stayed at home with a baby-sitter.)

Barton G. is known for the food presentation. We saw themed entrees, with cows and wheat grass for the steaks and beach lounge chairs for the lobster tails. The food was delicious.

Our appetizer, potato prepared 3 ways (french fries, tator tots and curly chips). What made it really cool were the dipping sauces that came with them: garlic tartar sauce, ketchup, and a spicy sauce.

Our main entree. The steak came with garlic mashed potatoes, asparagus, wheat grass (decor), and a cow-shaped gravy boat that held the sauce.

We ordered beignets for dessert. They were fresh, crunchy on the outside, and fluffy on the inside.
On Day 7, we rented a car and drove 3 hours from Miami, Florida to Orlando, Florida. It was a pretty uneventful ride through the center of Florida on the Turnpike. When we got to Orlando, our plan was to drop off the rental car at the Orlando airport and take a shuttle to Comfort Inn. The rental car was low on fuel, so we turned in at a gas station at the airport entrance to fill up. Big mistake. The gas prices were expensive, at least $0.50 more per gallon. But since we were clueless tourists and didn't know how far it was to the next gas station, we were forced to pay the hefty fee. Ugh. Note to self: Next time, gas up at a nearby town instead of at a gas station close to the airport.
Along the way to Orlando, we discovered that we had left print-outs of our tickets at Jean's place in Miami. We figured that we could print out the tickets again at Comfort Inn, using their computer access. It wasn't so easy. Comfort Inn did have computer access, but we had to pay $1 for 10 minutes and $1 per page printed. To add to our frustration, some of the tickets were sent in pdf format and the computer at Comfort Inn couldn't print pdf formats. In the end, we had to ask Jean to print out our tickets and fax them to us. The damage: $13 fed to the computer and 3 hours of frustration.
