Dinner at Nobu

Reservations for Nobu were really hard to get. The demand for reservations is so high that when we called one month in advance to make reservations, we got a busy signal for hours. When we finally got through, we got directed to an automated call handling system to wait a few more hours in line before we could talk to a live person. At one point, my cell phone died because it was low on battery and we had to start all over again. It's no wonder that we saw reservations at Nobu for sale for $30 on the internet.

The food at Nobu can best be described as a "modern" Japanese food. Some entrees looked like what Masaharu Morimoto would make on Iron Chef America. The food was delicious.

Fresh yellowtail sashimi with slices of jalapeno pepper

Tuna tataki with ponzu

Rock shrimp with yuzu served on lime stone lettuce

Squid "pasta" with garlic sauce

black cod with miso

Calpico ice cream wrapped in crepe, in white peach yamamomo soup, Pocky, and roasted pistachio
